Morrigu: “The Phantom Queen”

Morrigu, also known as The Morrigan, is a major figure in Celtic mythology. Often referred to as The Phantom Queen, Morrigu is associated with war and death, and often appears in the form of a crow or raven in Celtic myth.

Morrigu is frequently associated with the other Celtic war goddesses Badb and Nemain. In Celtic myth, warriors would often invoke her name during battle in order to bring about victory. Morrigu is the granddaughter of Nuada and a member of the Tuatha de Danann. She participates in the Battle of Mag Tuired, summoning magicians to cast spells on behalf of the Tuatha and to destroy the Fomorian king Indech.
